Roberta
Hopefish is proudly celebrates the achievements of Roberta, who received a $5000 Hopefish Grant to support her studies toward a Master’s in Contemporary Education. The grant covered course fees, travel, accommodation, and essential study costs, allowing her to complete the first part of her Master’s program without financial stress.
This support removed the major barriers Roberta faced as a single mum still repaying her student loan. With the grant covering the key expenses, she was able to participate fully in her postgraduate program, attend block courses in Auckland, and focus on building the digital leadership skills she uses every day in her teaching practice.
Roberta completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborative Studies and is now preparing for part two of her Master’s in 2026. This next stage will involve planning a change project that addresses challenges in her practice and creates solutions that support her school and community.
She has already gained knowledge that strengthens how teachers, students, and whanau use technology and digital tools. Roberta also plans to develop a language revitalisation and acquisition program and lead collaborative community projects in Gisborne.
Hopefish is delighted to recognise Roberta’s progress and the impact her learning will continue to create.
